Yashica,  having marketed two Nicca re-badged models, the YE and the YF, then produced

their first 35mm rangefinder camera the Yashica 35 in 1958.

Bearing more than a passing resemblance to the Nikon and Contax cameras of the day.

With a fairly wide based rangefinder, a Copal leaf shutter with speeds from 1 to 1/500th and a fixed 45mm f1.9 lens.

Obviously not of the quite same calibre as its illustrious competitors but was far cheaper and was very well made.

The Yashinon lens is a superb performer - even wide open.  A very clear view finder with a suspended frame and a

rangefinder patch with excellent contrast.  Lever wind, auto frame reset and crank rewind.  Flash synch at all speeds.

Almost a forgotten camera. If you have the chance try one. I think you will be very pleasantly surprised.

By the way, can you see Yashica's mistake on this lens?
